Down Memory Lane

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I'm sure there is something you remember about me?!!

oh goodness...Well I remember random things about you! I remember you're a ballerina that can't do ballet because you hurt yourself doing gymnastics. I remember that you love to take pictures, you're from a military family, and love history. I remember when I went to your house with you in Falls Church. And then didn't I stay there before going down to BV sophomore year after I got un-engaged? I remember going to your grandparents? house in BV with you and that I loved their house

I remember the night we came to pick up the kids and you and Dan invited us to share your homemade pizza. We had such a great time just hanging out and watching the kids play! Add to that the wonderful times Gavin and Arwen always had at your place on Fridays. Thanks for being such great friends!

I have lots of memories from the few months we were in Seattle together. Like how you were always game for outings with the kids. We went to the Pacific Science Center together, and the zoo (that's when I fell in love with your stroller and bought the same one)! Then there was our babysitting swaps so that I could get out and run errands without the kids. You are so good with kids, and mine loved going to your house! Katia really liked playing with your boys, and you were so good with Alicia. And there were trips to the library and mother's group. Your boys are so lucky to have you as their mom -- you always made things fun!! We'll have to come see you sometime.

ok...yes...Burning Kim's car to the ground takes the cake!! Every time I have driven past there I look for the melted asphalt where the tires melted...oh memories! That's hilarious!

I should have my own blog just about you! Let's see - Dad and I were just talking about the time the car burned up at SVU. Your brother was impressed. Holding the neighborhood captive while you "performed" for over an hour was a good one, too. Jake doesn't fall far from the tree! We love you! Mom and Dad

Elise - I loved it when you sent a birthday cake and all the decorations for it with Gavin and Arwen when they came to my house on my birthday. The kids and I had so much fun decorating and eating that yummy cake - and I felt so loved that you thought of me on my special day!

Laura - Isn't it crazy that really we were only together in Seattle for about 6 months? It seems like so much longer - I guess because we did so much and had so much fun together! Well, one of my favorite memories was Katia's birthday. You called me and asked if the boys and I wanted to come to dinner - and of course we did - so I just turned off the stove (where our dinner was already cooking) and went straight over to your house. We had so much fun that evening and I fell in love with your ice cream cake (and adopted your recipe and birthday tradition - thanks!). When we got home, Dan had come home unexpectedly and wondered where his family had gone in such a hurry!

Mom - Well, what can I say? You raised me, so I guess I remember a lot about you! But here's one I really enjoy: You must remember the time you couldn't get a bike to fit into the back of the car... I think (no, I'm sure) the conversation went like this.
Mom: "The wheel keeps turning!"
Me: "That's what wheels do, Mom." (sorry about the smart-aleck comment)
Mom: "Really?"
And you weren't being a smart-aleck back, let's just put it that way. I love you!

I really enjoyed chatting with you at the pool while our big boys "swam" and how impressed I was that you had so many things in your bag to keep the littler ones entertained. And I will always remember you and your family coming to our holiday party - when you didn't know anyone - and I think you even walked up in the rain with the stroller. I can still picture your boys playing air hockey in our kitchen nook that night! Jack will still occasionally say hi to Jake as we drive by your old rental house.

OK, so we won't mention you falling off my bed backwards, popping up, and pretending nothing ever happened . . .
or when you said the blessing on the food so fast the the food was in your mouth before the rest of us even got to say "amen"
or the time you got kicked in the eye and lost most of your eyelashes
or tried to drown your one month old sister with 7-up because she was thirsty
or danced for the elementary school talent show with no music because the teacher erased Claudia's tape
or . . . (hey, this is fun!)

I just had another memory as I drove past Ilif nursing home. Remember we used to go there on Sunday afternoons? Remember a little boy named Rafi? He was my favorite and one day we went back and he had died.
